Advanced Stroke Life Support Instructor for Prehospital/Hospital

    This course teaches licensed RNs and advanced practice nurses, physicians, PAs, and paramedics how to conduct an Advanced Stroke Life Support® provider course, the responsibilities of ASLS® training centers and instructors, key teaching points and strategies for engaging the audience, demonstrating appropriate techniques for teaching & conducting the Cincinnati Prehospital Stroke Scale (CPSS) and MEND (Miami Examination for Neurological Deficits) examinations, and the best approach to video-based scenario and standardized patient sessions. Participants are assigned in advance a portion of the provider course didactic content to present in a guided teaching/learning experience, with the benefit of instructional expertise and faculty mentoring.

    Prerequisite: prior completion of an ASLS® provider course within two years with a minimum score of 84%.

    In order to teach classes, trained instructors must be aligned with a registered ASLS® Training Center and submit an application for the ASLS® Instructor Registry, along with a signed disclosure form and curriculum vitae (CV), within 30 days of instructor course completion.
